Thomas Barth was born in Vienna in 1965. He studied piano and composition in Austria, Denmark and the USA including master classes with Herbie Hancock at the Mozarteum/ Salzburg 1987 and with "Weather Report" founder Joe Zawinul at the "Wiener Meisterkurse", Vienna 1992. Studio/ Live collaborations including Beat4Feet, Stray Dog Music, Electric Diamond (feat. Stuart Diamond, Karen Bentley-Pollick), Brand Nubian, Deodato (Vienna Jazz Festival 2002, State Opera) and his own projects in Vienna and New York. 2007: Producer (CD) of Giuseppe Verdi's opera "Nabucco", recorded at the open air- festival in St. Margarethen/ Austria.

Since Sommer 2014: member of "Jazztrio.at" (Thomas Barth, p; Christoph Petschina resp. Johannes Strasser, bass; Wolfgang Wehner, drums). CD's: "Weihnachtsalbum" (2015), "Sommeralbum" (release: Sommer 2016).

CDs as a leader: (coming up): "Three Streams And A River" with Chris Minh Doky (bass) and Ian Froman (drums), rec. in Copenhagen.

2003: "Beyond Black & White" Solo Piano 2 CDs, rec. in Austria. 

2001: "Seven Worlds", featuring Mike Stern, Craig Handy, Gerald Veasley, Mike Baker and Evan Tate, rec. in NYC. 

Other works (excerpts): Film music for the 95 min. documentary "Wer hat Angst vor Wilhelm Reich"/ "Who is afraid of Wilhelm Reich" (2009, directed by Antonin Svoboda).

Other: Since 2012, Barth holds a doctorate in psychotherapy sciences from  Sigmund Freud Privatuniversität Vienna (SFU) and runs a psychotherapy practice (method: Psychoanalysis) in 1090 Vienna (www.drbarth.at).
